    Summary:
    Assists Director of Extended Learning in implementing ACES/ ELO-P and Summer program objectives. Assists in staff training for development and implementation of activities and materials to enhance the student learning experiences through programs.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Confers with ACES/ELO-P staff, and Summer School staff on design of operational components (academic/enrichment/wellness activities).
    • Meets as directed with ACES/ELO-P Program Site Managers to align academic standards with ACES/ELO-P academic, enrichment, and wellness activities. Plans and organizes various activities and programs as directed.
    • Assists in planning and providing in-service and induction training for staff.
    • Participates in designing recruitment strategies as it relates to hiring, volunteer staff, enhancement of program's image.
    • Represents ACES/ELO-P at site level as directed.
    • Generates reports as needed and assists with mandatory state reporting requirements of attendance and performance data.
    • Assists in monitoring program enrollment and attendance.
    • Assists with and monitors program compliance including site visit requirements.
    • Attends regional and local collaborative meetings.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    • Maintains appropriate records, tracks student attendance for program compliance.
    • Attends meetings and training required by the district.
    • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge and Skills:
      • The position requires working practices of reinforcing age appropriate child development and guidance applicable for an educational setting. Requires basic knowledge of positive reinforcement and discipline techniques. Requires basic knowledge of the subjects taught in the schools served by the District, including science, math, writing, grammar, spelling, language and reading, sufficiently to assist students with individual or group studies. Requires a basic knowledge of methods for effective tutoring and instruction assistance. Requires knowledge of basic clerical and student record keeping processes. Requires knowledge of and skill at using personal computers, audiovisual, and other equipment to support learning, record information, and send communications. Requires sufficient human relation skills to work productively and cooperatively with ACES staff, students, and parents in formal and informal settings, to exercise patience when conveying information to students having difficulty in learning and play environments. May require competency in a second language.
    • Abilities:
      • Requires the ability to assist Program Site Managers and Program Leaders with organization and support of a learning-oriented program that includes recreational activity. Requires the ability to oversee students, administer assignments, and perform general clerical tasks. Requires the ability to facilitate problem solving processes with individuals, and small groups of students and assist with demonstrations of assigned subject matter. Requires the ability to relate positively to staff and students in a teaching/learning environment in a way that builds confidence, recognizes and works on learning.

    Education and Experience:

    • High School diploma or GED.
    • AA/AS degree, or 48+ semester college units, or Paraprofessional Certification.
    • Two years of experience working with students in a classroom or recreational environment and successful completion of a rigorous competency exam resulting in a certificate.
    • May require 6 credit hours of early childhood education curriculum.

    Licenses and Certificates:

    • May require a valid driver's license.
    • May require a valid first aid card.

    Salary and Terms of Service:
    Salary range (33) $23.70 - $29.16 per hour, eight (8) steps, eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week (M-F), 12 months per year. Holidays, sick leave and vacation benefits. Prepaid family dental, medical, and vision insurance, prepaid life insurance plan for employee only.
