Position: Secretary - Principal
Location: Uinta County School District #1, Evanston, Wyoming
Horizon High School
Salary: S2; 4-6; $17.50 per hour; with benefits
Hours: Monday-Friday; 208 days per year, 8 hours/day

Primary Job Function:
The Uinta County School District# I District/Building Secretary provides office and clerical support to assist with the efficient operation of a school building or department. To accomplish these tasks, the Secretary works closely with the staff and administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Preferred, college-level course work in business, secretarial science or related field
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible secretarial or administrative assistant experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary functions may include the following duties, responsibilities, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions within this classification.
Leadership:
- Responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the building principal, building staff or department head. This includes but is not limited to:
- Maintain Principal/Department Head calendar
- Assist with a variety of projects
- Serve as receptionist for building/department
- Maintain building use calendar
- Maintain policy manual
- Responsible for prioritizing, coordinating and organizing all office activities.
- Responsible for serving in the role of nurse. This will include but not limited to:
- Administering medications
- Taking temperatures
- General first aid
- Assisting with possible broken bones and other forms of injury
- Responsible for initiating actions and procedures which serve and advance the interests and workload of the building Principal/Department Head
- Responsible for providing sound judgment on how to resolve questions, complaints or other issues
- Responsible for checking in visitors into Verkada System.
- Be aware of surroundings.
Communication and Support:
- Responsible for handling telephone calls, responding to questions and referring calls to appropriate party
- Responsible for greeting and assisting visitors
- Responsible for performing general clerical duties to support the smooth operation of a district building or department
- Responsible for assisting other office secretaries as needed
- Attend meetings for building Principal/Department Head
- Responsible for maintaining confidential records and reports
- Responsible for entering attendance for students into PowerSchool
- Responsible for watching students' attendence to identify and adddress potential attendance issues.
- Responisble for talking to parents regarding student attendance
- Responsible for managing leave requests. This includes but is not limited to:
- Calling and setting up substitutes
- Find available coverage when no substitutes are available
- Complete the Time Management missed punches
Budget and Finance:
- Responsible for electronically managing the school, classroom or department budget
- Responsible for posting all deposits
- Responsible for receiving money from student activities and ensuring timely deposit in the bank
- Responsible for updating fee accounts
- Responsible for serving as the building/department purchasing officer. This includes but is not limited to:
- Initiate purchse orers, confirm pricing, and place orders
- Submit purchase documentation to Central Office
- Input requisitions into the Linq System and submit paperwork to Business Office
- Receive orders, match packing lists, and track lost orders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of record-keeping techniques
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Knowledge of basic mathematics
- Knowledge of UCSD#l policies and procedures
- Skilled at effective verbal and written communication
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Skilled in collaboration and decision-making, seeking consensus whenever possible
- Skilled in conflict resolution
- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to handle behavioral situations in a calm and effective manner
- Ability to maintain accurate records and write reports and logs
- Ability to "think outside the box"
- Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
- Ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures

Physical Demands & Workng Conditions:
- Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push, pull, lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.
- Working Conditions - The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact in challenging situations involving children and adults.
- Driving Requirement - This position may require driving.
