This is a clerical position requiring general knowledge of all functions of the Superior Court and Clerk's offices. Performances at this level usually involve exposure to and training in a broad range of clerical activities in the Superior Court. Duties require concise expertise where the consequences of clerical error would be very significant. Work is performed under the general supervision of the County Clerk and/or Chief Deputy Clerk.

Knowledge of :
Thorough knowledge of the operation of the Superior Court and case process activity; modern office practices and procedures including filing, indexing, and cross-reference methods; commonly used office equipment; arithmetic; rules of spelling and grammar.
Ability to :
Work independently and in a high pressure work environment; make consequential work decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, and court policies and procedures, express ideas clearly and concisely orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships; follow oral and written instructions; learn to operate computer terminal equipment; learn and retain complex procedures; prepare and maintain clerical records and reports; render clear explanations of procedures and regulations; operate standard office equipment and machines; maintain neat personal appearance and courteous attitude toward public and fellow employees.

- Prepare weekly motion calendar through computer terminal.Copy calendar and distribute to Judges and attorneys.
- Prepare cases for appellate proceedings.Mail documents and exhibits to Court of Appeals.Keep record of transmittals to Court of Appeals.
- Prepare and mail changes of venue and remands to Lower Courts.
- Receive, sort and distribute mail.
- Receive, sort, date and file legal documents.
- Execute passport applications.
- Type various applications and forms.
- Assist the general public in locating recorded or filed information and prepare and certify copies as requested.
- Check related materials for completeness, accuracy and correctness.
- Answer or route telephone inquiries as required.
- Prepare correspondence or related materials for mailing.
- Substitute as needed as Court Clerk in courtroom, taking case minutes.
- Operate standard office equipment as required.
- Make up new files, put away files, keep files in order and up-to-date.FILES ALL DOCUMENTS.
- Microfilm documents, record documents filmed, change film in camera.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Clerk.

- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, two years clerical court related experience, or a combination of education and experience, which provides the required knowledge and abilities as, stated above.
- Type accurately and the ability to operate a computer and learn various programs.
- Ability to handle stress and high-pressure situations with constant changes.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must have a valid Washington Driver's license.
- Must be cleared through a criminal justice background check.
