Employee will be assigned to the Cardiology Department, Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, Ann Arbor, MI, providing administrative, technical, and clerical support to various sections within the department. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You may qualify at the GS-6 level if you fulfill the following qualifications:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office; scheduling and managing a calendar of appointments; preparing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; serving as a timekeeper; utilizing various computer applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.; and maintaining files. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary; however, some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items is required.
The work environment involves the normal risks and discomforts typical of administrative work in a medical care delivery setting. The employee and supervisor observe general safety guidelines.
