Description of Work

This position is located in Meadowview Cottage at Murdoch Developmental Center. Meadowview Cottage provides specialized direct services to individuals with extreme behavioral challenges. The Behaviorally Advanced Residential Treatment (BART) Unit serves adult men and women (over the age of 18) who have mild IDD and complex behavioral needs and the Specialized Treatment of Adolescents in a Residential Setting (STARS) Unit serves a co-ed population aged 13-17 who have I/DD and MI diagnoses. The primary purpose of this position is office management for Meadowview Cottage, Secretary to the Division Director, and supervision of an Administrative Associate II. The Administrative Specialist is responsible for the Director's telephone calls/messages, scheduling meetings /appointments, taking minutes, preparing final reports, and maintaining files. The Administrative Specialist also maintains Division budgets, addresses questions and concerns of Division and Center Personnel, and keeps Director abreast of Division issues and concerns. Work tasks with regard to others include assisting staff with functions related to services/support areas on campus, providing clarifications/interpretations on campus practices and policies/procedures, and the frequent changes in these. Information/policy support and direction is also provided to Direct Care Supervisory Staff and Direct Care Staff in regards to time worked and leave time (educational leave, compensatory time, overtime pay, compensatory time earned, civil leave, child involvement leave, etc.), time issues (time policy), transfer request information (shift, unit, building), operational functions (maintenance, carpenter shop, housekeeping, linen room, individual clothing, etc.).

ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Recruitment Range: $37,782.00 - $66,120.00

  • experience in office support in a professional environment with thorough knowledge of office procedures, methods, and practices.

  • experience in operating a multi-line telephone system

  • experience with maintaining and creating electronic as well as hard copy filing systems

  • experience using MS Office (MS Word and MS Excel)

The applicant will be required to successfully complete the Murdoch Developmental Center "Basic Training Series"; which includes, but is not limited to program library training, First Aid, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting. Applicants must have the ability to pass a physical requirements test.

Scheduled work hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
