CLERK OF COURT - Administrative Assistant

Under general supervision of the Clerk of Court and their supervisor, an Administrative Assistant is a first level clerical worker engaged in the processing of Court matters with responsibility for entering, scanning, ordering, copying and filing different types of court documents and exhibits.
  • Under occasional supervision, performs a variety of complex administrative, secretarial and clerical duties in order to ensure effective and efficient office operations; including answering the phone and directing calls to other offices.
  • Provides assistance to department management, co-workers and the general public as required.
  • Issues, scans and files General Sessions bench warrants, sentence sheets and indictments from court and pulls warrants.
  • Orders record retention files for title searchers and the public.
  • Pulls files for judges court rosters.
  • Processes e-filed common pleas documents by making sure they are routed to the correct person for signature.
  • Work as clerk in courtroom proceedings.
    • Swearing-in jurors and witnesses.
    • Keeping track of court proceedings, maintaining and logging the exhibits.
    • Reading verdicts when appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Associate degree in Secretarial Science, or equivalent and one year general office/clerical experience or high school diploma and three years of clerical/general office experience, or any equivalent combination of training, experience, knowledge and abilities.
  • Must have extensive experience with computer and office software packages.
