Position Title: Education Assistant & Receptionist

Department: Education

Reports To: Education Program Manager (or designate)

FTE/Hours: Full-Time, 35-hours per-week

Location: Merritt, British Columbia, Canada

POSITION SUMMARY

The Education Assistant & Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for the Education Department, providing administrative, reception, and program support to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.

This role supports both the Education team , contributing to the delivery of programs and services that enhance community engagement, access to education, and overall member support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ADMINISTRATIVE & RECEPTION SUPPORT

Greet and assist community members, clients, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner

Answer and direct incoming calls and inquiries

Maintain organized filing systems and accurate documentation

Coordinate appointments, meetings, and facility bookings

Support correspondence, reports, and general office administration

PROGRAM & TEAM SUPPORT

Assist the Education Manager, Post-Secondary Coordinator as required

Support planning and logistics for workshops, events, and community programming

Prepare materials, communications, and resources for programs

Assist with tracking participation, records, and reporting requirements

OFFICE COORDINATION

Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front reception area

Monitor and order office supplies as needed

Support internal communication and coordination across the team

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 1 year of post-secondary education (Certificate or Diploma in Administration considered an asset)

Previous administrative, reception, or customer service experience preferred

Experience working in or with First Nations communities is an asset

Valid Class 5 Drivers License and reliable transportation is an asset

Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook; Excel is an asset)

Professional, reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality

Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to support community initiatives
