Our Telematics Coordinator position is responsible for implementing and managing the Motive Telematics program for Idaho Materials & Construction and the Rockies North Region. This role supports drivers, dispatchers, and operations staff by ensuring effective use of telematics software and hardware essential to daily operations.
Key responsibilities include onboarding new users, managing equipment and software, coordinating updates, monitoring system usage, and providing troubleshooting support. This position serves as a central point of contact between field teams, operations staff, and internal IT partners to ensure smooth adoption and continuous improvement of telematics systems.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
User Onboarding & Training
- Set up applications and telematics equipment for new drivers.
- Coordinate onboarding, system access, and training for operations and back-office staff.
- Provide ongoing training and support to ensure effective system use.
System Support & Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison between Motive, the Telematics Manager, and internal teams.
- Troubleshoot software issues and coordinate resolutions with appropriate stakeholders.
- Communicate system updates, maintenance notices, and impacts to end users.
- Monitor system usage and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and utilization.
- Provide feedback to IT and leadership regarding system enhancements, challenges, and business needs.
- Distribute Hours of Service (HOS) violation reports to management.
- Act as the primary point of contact for Idaho Materials & Construction telematics support.
Hardware Management
- Track telematics equipment inventory and order replacements or new parts as needed.
- Monitor non-reporting or malfunctioning equipment and coordinate corrective actions with maintenance teams.
Software Management
- Coordinate software updates and ensure smooth implementation.
- Monitor data accuracy and system performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes through better use of system capabilities.
- Provide recommendations for system enhancements and continuous improvement.
Workplace Requirements
- Willingness to travel to field locations to support drivers as needed.
- Ability to work evenings or weekends when required.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment and assist with additional duties as needed.
- Strict adherence to all safety policies as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
- Compliance with all applicable regulations (DOT, OSHA, MSHA, and other governing bodies).

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required (post-secondary education preferred).
- Previous experience in construction, transportation, or a related industry preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with database systems; familiarity with OnBase is a plus (training available).
