A Switchboard Operator plays a vital role in facilitating effective communication within an organization. They are chiefly responsible for handling incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls and directing them to the appropriate departments or individuals. Their tasks may also extend to maintaining phone system performance, recording and relaying messages, and sometimes performing administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and record keeping.
Switchboard Operators should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as they often serve as the first point of contact for clients or visitors. They should also have good organizational abilities and be familiar with computer and telephone systems.
