Job Summary

Under the direction of the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, performs duties in greeting the public and providing general information; receiving and routing calls on the main, multi-line telephone system; and performing general administrative support duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operates a communication system which includes a multi-line telephone and an intercom.

Answers incoming calls, greets callers, transfers calls, and takes messages when necessary.

Provides seamless communication between internal and external callers.

Serves as a contact person for students and visitors.

References College website, catalogs, directories, and databases to provide accurate information.

Provides general information about the College via telephone or walk-ins, including campus directions, hours of operation, events, registration, financial aid, and testing to students, the general public, faculty, and staff.

Manages and updates resource material used when providing information.

Monitors designated cameras from the reception desk, maintaining confidentiality with sensitive information, and reports any suspicious activity to authorized representatives.

Maintains various voice messages associated with holidays and College closings.

Contacts or dispatches College security staff when necessary.

Maintains and updates a meeting schedule for campus security.

Assists other administrative staff with overflow work, including word processing, data entry, filing, and Internet research.

Attends College and/or administrative meetings.

Serves on institutional committees as appointed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma from an accredited secondary institution or equivalent (required)

Associate Degree in Office Administration or related field (preferred)

One - Three years of experience in a receptionist/office environment (preferred)
