We are seeking a talented Junior Network Administrator to support a Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity program. In this role, youll assist with managing and securing network infrastructure in a classified, high-assurance environment. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with network hardware, strong troubleshooting skills, and a collaborative mindset, with opportunities to grow within a dynamic and fast-paced team.
Responsibilities- Perform daily administration and maintenance of LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and resolve connectivity issues promptly
- Support implementation of network security configurations and policies in alignment with DoD cybersecurity frameworks
- Conduct regular vulnerability scans and support remediation efforts using tools such as ACAS
- Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and contribute to Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) compliance
- Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, configuration baselines, and asset inventories
- Assist in incident response activities by collecting and analyzing network data
- Work closely with senior network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and systems teams on RMF-aligned initiatives
- Participate in formal change management processes for planned network updates and implementations
- Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- DoD 8470/8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE)
- 1+ years of experience in network administration in a DoD or large-scale IT environment
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, and switching
- Experience working with enterprise-grade network hardware to include Juniper (required) and Cisco
- Familiarity with RMF processes, STIGs, and system hardening practices
- Proficiency with common troubleshooting tools (ping, traceroute, Wireshark, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail, documentation habits, and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a mission-oriented technical team
