**Position Overview:**

Were seeking a hands-on **Lead Database Administrator** to oversee daily operations of the database administration team. This individual will be responsible for supervising database activities, optimizing performance, and ensuring availability, security, and scalability of mission-critical database systemsprimarily Oracle and MS-SQL. This role combines leadership and deep technical expertise to support complex, high-volume OLTP environments and deliver reliable data solutions for business decision-making.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Lead, mentor, and manage day-to-day activities of the database administration team.

+ Oversee deployment, patching, configuration, and upgrades of database servers and clients.

+ Provide Tier 3 support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for database-related issues.

+ Design and maintain OLTP and OLAP environments, tuning for performance and availability.

+ Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

+ Manage and document database architecture, standards, and processes.

+ Ensure security, access control, and regulatory compliance.

+ Create automation scripts for maintenance tasks.

+ Evaluate capacity, storage, and performance metrics and implement improvements.

+ Participate in after-hours/on-call rotations.

+ Collaborate with other IT and business teams to support data-driven initiatives.

+ Escalate critical issues and risks to senior leadership.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

+ Bachelors degree or equivalent industry experience.

+ 8+ years of hands-on database experience (MS-SQL or Oracle).

+ Proven experience leading DBA teams in production environments.

+ Expertise in SQL performance tuning, monitoring, and high availability.

+ Strong programming/scripting experience (e.g., T-SQL, Shell, C#.NET, HTML5).

+ Solid understanding of relational database internals and architecture.

**Preferred/Bonus Skills:**

+ Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, CosmosDB, or Azure.

+ Familiarity with CIS and DOD STIG security standards.

+ Experience using Azure DevOps and working in change-controlled environments.

+ Agile methodology exposure.
