Department History Overview:
Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as Harris County Child Welfare Board to provide support services for the children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later, Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the now-county department has expanded services for early prevention, intervention, and adult services.

Relief Receptionist Overview:
Under the supervision of the Administrative Coordinator, this position provides receptionist support at the Youth Service Center (YSC) front desk. The administrative assistant's main responsibilities are to answer incoming calls in a very fast-paced environment, greet customers, visitors, and clients, and route all mail and deliveries.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Must be able to operate a multi-phone line.
Greets and welcomes guest as soon as they arrive at the front desk.
Answers, screens and forwards incoming phones calls.
Ensures reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.g., pens, forms and brochures).
Receives, sorts and distributes daily mail/deliveries.
Performs additional tasks which may include minor administrative support
Maintains office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges).
Attends 10 hours of required trainings annually.

Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
Experience:
Two (2) year of continuous full-time paid experience as a receptionist, front office representative or similar role.
Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
Licensure:
- Reliable transportation with a valid driver's license (Texas) and auto liability insurance

Must have a professional attitude and appearance.

Possess excellent organizational skills.
Must be detailed oriented and self-motivated.
Must interact with all levels of staff.
