Position Announcement
The Advising Center for The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) is seeking a reliable and customer-service-oriented work study student to serve as a front desk receptionist. This position is responsible for supporting daily office operations and providing a welcoming first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors. Key duties include handling walk-in questions, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and monitoring the advising chat and email. The receptionist will also check the advising mailbox, send appointment reminders using the university's texting system, and assist with other administrative tasks as assigned. This role offers valuable experience in communication, organization, and office administration in a professional higher education environment.

Summary of Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Must be a current UVU student and have been awarded Federal Work-Study for 2025-2026 through UVU Financial Aid.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Skills in office methods, techniques, practices and procedures
Skills in the use of computers and computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and databases
Ability to perform a variety of administrative support duties with minimum supervision
Ability to follow verbal and written procedures and instructions
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to meet and work with people of diverse backgrounds
Knowledge and experience working in an education environment preferred, but not required
Knowledge of college policy/procedures preferred, but not required
