Job Summary

Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that enhance the safety of all employees and contractors, as well as protect company assets. The Physical Security Operations Manager will oversee a team focused on security system project management and field operations. This manager serves as the primary liaison with the contract guard force company and the vendors responsible for installing and maintaining security-related technology.

The Physical Security Operations Manager will direct the activities of the Regional Security Coordinators to ensure that workplace aggression issues are managed appropriately, investigations are completed thoroughly, vulnerability assessments are documented correctly, and compliance obligations are met.

Additionally, this manager is responsible for ensuring adherence to procurement practices and for reviewing all financial obligations for accuracy and timely payment. This position oversees the overall department budget, project installations, procurement, and all field operations related to Physical Security.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate with the contracted Guard Force Company to ensure responsibilities are executed appropriately and contractual obligations are fulfilled.

  • Manage security-related projects, collaborating with AEP Legal and AEP Procurement to implement the competitive bidding process and establish contractual obligations for AEP and the vendor.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with all security-related vendors and service providers concerning the installation and maintenance of security systems.

  • Oversee the activities of the Regional Security Coordinators to ensure proper implementation of the Workplace Aggression Program and appropriate resolution of Workplace Aggression incidents.

  • Guide the Regional Security Coordinators to ensure that non-workplace aggression security investigations are properly assigned, conducted, and completed.

  • Direct the subject matter expert Regional Security Coordinators to ensure compliance with NERC CIP, MTSA, CFATS, and FERC Dams program obligations.

  • Oversee the Security Management System and prepare relevant reports for executive presentations.

  • Ensure that Regional Security Coordinators and all security contractors adhere to accepted AEP safety practices.

  • Be prepared for travel, including overnight stays, up to 40% of the time.

  • Maintain availability 24/7 due to the nature of the business and respond as needed.

  • Prioritize and direct area work activities, optimizing the utilization of resources.

Minimum Requirements:

Education : Bachelor's degree or Associate degree combined with a minimum of 2 years of applicable business/technical experience in Security (Cyber and/or Physical), Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field OR a HS diploma/GED combined with a minimum of 4 years of applicable business/technical experience preferably in Security (Cyber and/or Physical), Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience: 10 or more years of Security (Physical and/or Cyber), business administration, computer science, or other technical experience, demonstrating steady progression in responsibilities including 4 or more years of direct supervision experience preferred (in addition to any experience identified above).

$132,562.00-172,331.00 USD
