ABOUT THIS ROLE

Are you passionate about empowering people to live healthier, happier lives? The Leon County / City of Tallahassee's Consolidated Dispatch Agency (CDA) is looking for a dedicated and caring Wellness Specialist to join our team.

In this role, you'll work alongside the Behavioral Health Wellness Coordinator to support CDA members and their families through meaningful wellness programming - connecting people with the education, resources, and referrals they need to thrive both physically and emotionally.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Support CDA members and their families through wellness programming designed to improve overall quality of life.
  • Assist the Behavioral Health Wellness Coordinator in planning and delivering physical and emotional health initiatives.
  • Provide education and resources on a wide range of health and wellness topics.
  • Connect members and families to appropriate referrals and community support services.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided and support program evaluation efforts.
  • Promote a culture of wellness throughout the organization through outreach and engagement activities.
  • Oversee the Crisis Navigation Program

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, or a closely related field (required).
  • Knowledge of wellness, preventive health, and behavioral health principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - you're approachable, empathetic, and a great listener.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with referral systems or community health resources is a plus.
  • Commitment to serving a diverse workforce with compassion and cultural sensitivity.

Minimum Training & Experience

Possession of a bachelor's degree in business or public administration or a degree accepted in the field in which the vacancy exists?

Salary Range

$21.6689 to $58.7999/hourly. Hiring rate generally will not exceed $29.9764/hour.

Driver's License Requirements

At the department director's discretion, a valid Class E State driver's license MAY be required

Essential Job duties

  • Collaborate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive internal and external behavioral health and wellness initiatives designed to promote the holistic well-being of agency members and their families.
  • Establish and sustain proactive, trauma-informed communication with agency members and their families, delivering individualized support, evidence-based guidance, and timely referrals to appropriate behavioral health and community resources.
  • Conduct ongoing needs assessments to identify barriers to healthy functioning; partner with the Behavioral Health Wellness Coordinator to develop targeted intervention strategies and facilitate referrals to qualified support services.
  • Design and deliver specialized crisis intervention and de-escalation training curricula for Public Safety Communications Operators, equipping staff with the skills and confidence to effectively support callers experiencing mental health crises.
  • Partner with the Behavioral Health Wellness Coordinator in the ongoing implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the CDA Wellness Operations Plan to ensure alignment with agency goals and best practices in public safety wellness.
  • Provide programmatic oversight and strategic coordination of the Crisis Diversion Navigation Program, ensuring seamless service delivery, stakeholder collaboration, and measurable outcomes for individuals in crisis.
