Experience: Such as may have been gained through employment in areas of the administration of elections, as well as experience in both a warehouse and office setting.

Class Definition

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To work under the direct supervision of the Executive Director in a warehouse and office environment, with the responsibility for assisting with the preparation for shipping, receiving, and the inventorying of the Board's voting equipment, supplies, and materials, as well as the maintenance of the warehouse and administrative offices.

The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Clerk Typist shall include, but are not limited to, the following activities. Certain functions may become the exclusive responsibility of the Senior Clerk Typist.

  • Work under the supervision of the Executive Director and the Deputy Director on duties related to compliance with federal and state election laws, and Board regulations;
  • Responsible for care and maintenance of the Board's warehouse and administrative office facilities;
  • Responsible for assisting with the organization and inventory of all voting and election materials and supplies;
  • Responsible for assisting with the preparation, packing, readying, and shipping of voting equipment and election supplies to and from early voting sites and polling places;
  • Responsible for assisting with the delivery of voting equipment and supplies to polling places and early voting sites;
  • Responsible for assisting with the setup and training of election day technicians, and with the preparation and assignment of replacement voting equipment to technicians as needed;
  • Responsible for assisting with processing, organization, and the maintenance of election returns from the 39 cities and towns;
  • Responsible for assisting with the conduct of recounts and post-election audits;
  • Responsible for assisting with agency public outreach activities such as, but not limited to, voter registration drives, voter education, and general training assistance.
  • Answer incoming calls to the agency as needed; transmit all phone calls and messages to the appropriate people;
  • Greet, assist, and direct all visitors as needed;
  • Assist with the organization and filing of documents and records for the agency, as needed;
  • To perform other duties as required.

The aforementioned activities outline the duties and responsibilities of the Senior Clerk Typist. It is not a complete list of the duties and responsibilities associated with the position, but rather a general guide for the position. In addition, the Senior Clerk Typist shall at any time and from time to time perform such duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director in addition to, or in lieu of, his or her regular duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: Must possess strong organizational skills, initiative, and ability to work independently or with staff in a warehouse and office setting; possess strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with superiors, agency personnel, and the public; ability to coordinate multiple projects and work assignments; ability to effectively problem-solve and related capacities and abilities.

Work hours are Monday - Friday; 8 am - 4 pm.
