Administrative Officer - Private Office

  • Isle of Man Government
  • Douglas, Arizona
  • Full Time

"What I enjoy most about working in the Private Office is the variety of the role. I know it is cliche but no two days are the same, and you never quite know what you are walking into on a Monday morning. One minute I could be responding to queries from members of the public, and the next I am pulling together speaking notes for a parliamentary sitting. The Private Office is a fast paced environment, but that is what makes it so engaging. What makes the role particularly rewarding is being able to see the positive real world impact of government policies and legislation, as well as helping members of the public directly with the questions and issues they bring to us.

We are a very close and supportive team. We work hard to keep pace with what is happening around us and we are always ready to adapt to emerging priorities. This role offers fantastic development opportunities too. Sitting at the centre of Government means we work with a wide range of Departments and teams, and there is a lot of scope to build new skills through both on the job experience and dedicated training. Personally, my role as Private Secretary to the Chief Minister has been a great platform for my own professional growth. My role has helped me build strong relationships with colleagues across Government, the Private Sector, and beyond the Isle of Man, and develop a broad understanding of the key issues and priorities being delivered."
