OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU

The Office Assistant - Intern will play a vital role in supporting the administrative functions within an ophthalmology practice. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in office operations, contributing to the smooth and efficient running of daily activities. The intern will assist with clerical tasks, data entry, and communication duties that support patient care and organizational workflows. By collab orating with various departments, the intern will gain valuable insight into healthcare administration and develop professional skills essential for a career in this industry. Ulti mately, this role aims to enhance operational efficiency while fostering the intern’s growth and understanding of healthcare office environments.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a high school or college program.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in an office or healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems or healthcare software.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
  • Customer service experience, particularly in a healthcare or social assistance setting.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general clerical duties including filing, photocopying, and organizing documents.
  • Assist with data entry and maintaining accurate patient and office records.
  • Support scheduling and appointment coordination for healthcare staff and patients.
  • Respond to phone calls and emails, directing inquiries to appropriate personnel.
  • Help prepare and distribute internal communications and informational materials.
  • Maintain office supplies inventory and place orders as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with healthcare privacy and confidentiality standards.
