Wilkes University is pleased to announce an opening for a Network Specialist in the Information Technology Services Department. This position supports the University's technology infrastructure by ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing network services that meet the academic, administrative, and operational needs of the campus community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for Wi-Fi optimization and troubleshooting; configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network security and efficiency; monitoring network performance and identifying potential bottlenecks or security threats; supporting network connectivity and user authentication; documenting network configurations and changes; and overseeing troubleshooting, updates, and upgrades of network devices. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively within a cohesive team environment.
A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) is preferred, along with at least three years of directly related experience. The ideal candidate will have experience with LAN/WAN environments, Cisco-based networks, Aruba wireless and switching systems, Fortinet Firewalls, Windows and Linux enterprise server management, Active Directory, and enterprise network security practices. Higher education experience is preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
