Class Description

The purpose of this class is to provide professional level administrative support services to assigned department or program.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma/GED and five years related office experience or Associates Degree and three years related office experience; knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office applications; must complete and pass Microsoft testing modules which includes Word and Excel and demonstrate the ability to type 30 wpm. (Candidates with proof of current Microsoft Office Expert Specialist Certification do not need to test.)

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale .

The CDL driving range is located at the CCBC Transportation Training Center (TTC) near the Dundalk campus. Class Specific Essential Duties
  1. Assist and provide information to students, faculty, administrators and the college community.
  2. Assist in planning meetings, special events, and with special projects.
  3. Serve as liaison between department or program and other offices or organizations.
  4. Research, analyze and process data into college systems.
  5. Maintain records and files.
  6. Answer, screen and direct telephone calls.
  7. Compile reports, documents, forms and correspondence.
  8. Create and track check requests, requisitions, work orders and other request forms.
  9. Process and manage all relevant course, program and/or personnel paperwork.

  1. Assist and provide consistent service and support to students, instructional specialists, faculty, administrators, and visitors to the department's office and facility.
  2. Execute routine communications with local, state, and federal agencies, private sector contract training, employer contacts, and industry representatives.
  3. Conduct routine orientation sessions, answering typical student inquiries and questions.
  4. Interview potential students for referral to the coordinator.
  5. Research and evaluate questions and issues toward resolution referring unresolved questions and issues to the respective instructional specialist or coordinator.
  6. Assist coordinator and instructional specialists with preparing materials needed for training.
  7. Maintain security of confidential student and instructor records, certificates and licensing exam verification sheets supporting the legal requirements of the MVA's Employer Tester Program.
  8. Track CDL student progress through database.
  9. Contact students with CDL training reminders and announcements.
  10. Generate and monitor routine service calls for equipment, technology, offices, and facility.
