- Alternating shifts: One week is Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and the next week is Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday.
- 8am-6:30pm
Pay Range
$18.85 - $28.30Performs clerical functions related to requisitioning, charging supplies and services, preparing and maintaining unit records and patient charts, and receiving/relaying communications consistent with hospital mission and nursing philosophy, goals, standards, and bylaws. Serves as unit receptionist in enhancing the image of High Point Medical Center and providing general information within HIPAA guidelines for patients, family members, visitors, and staff.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED General Studies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Job-Specific Duties:
- Customer Focus
- Demonstrates courtesy and respect in all interactions.
- Provides general information and updates patient location.
- Escorts customers to destinations.
- General Office Coordination
- Prioritizes clerical tasks based on unit needs.
- Answers phones, relays messages accurately.
- Collects/distributes mail and communications.
- Operates intercom system and prints forms as needed.
- Processes physician orders and assists with order entry.
- Supplies & Equipment
- Maintains supplies and floor stock using electronic requisition system.
- Assembles extra patient charts and verifies equipment bundles.
- Charges for special procedures and obtains necessary equipment.
- Patient Records & Documentation
- Enters codes for procedures and updates patient data.
- Reviews and maintains patient charts; requests old charts promptly.
- Disassembles charts at discharge and ensures confidentiality.
- Requisitions & Deliveries
- Delivers requisitions and specimens to appropriate departments.
- Communication
- Notifies Admitting Office of admissions/transfers.
- Updates computer records for discharges and transfers.
- Provides shift handoff updates and assists with patient flow.
- Responds to Nurse Call system and supports patient needs.
- Teamwork
- Assists with orientation of new staff.
- Meetings & Continuing Education
- Attends at least 75% of staff meetings.
- Completes mandatory education and 1 hour of continuing education.
- Professionalism
- Maintains professional relationships and adheres to department rules.
- Practices teamwork and follows Standards of Behavior.
- Other Duties
- Performs additional tasks as assigned.
