Candidates must be permanent in the Certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN) civil service title to apply** The Certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN) position will serve as a Senior Network Administrator in the IT Division. This position will be reporting to the Manager of the Network Services Team. Responsibilities will include but not limited to: -- Responsible for Cisco infrastructure, Cisco WAN, LAN, VoIP, VPN, WLAN, Technologies -- Responsible for the installation, configuration, testing and administration of switches, routers, network appliances, load balancers, and other network equipment sufficient for the needs of each office location while delivering required network service levels -- Ensure the reliability of the complex and diverse networks and applications utilized by the agency's divisions 24/7 days a week across multiple office locations while maintaining proper environmental conditions of MDFs & IDFs -- Perform onsite analysis, diagnosis and resolution of complex network problems and recommend and implement corrective actions. -- Create, document, implement and maintain network architecture configurations and processes -- Maintaining network systems, performing onsite and remote diagnosis, and finding effective resolutions for vulnerabilities and network failures -- Monitoring the performance requirement of the agency's network system and implementing strategies to improve the network operations along with providing status and reports of findings CERTIFIED IT ADMINISTRATOR (LA - 13652 Minimum Qualifications Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration that is required for the position to be filled. In addition, all candidates must have the following: 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in local area network and/or wide area network planning, design, configuration, installation, implementation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or 2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in "1" or 3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Education may be substituted for experience on the basis that 30 undergraduate semester credits from an accredited college is equivalent to 6 months of experience. A master's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may be substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in "1" above. Note: In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements: Incumbents may be required to update existing and/or obtain additional professional industry-standard certification(s) for current and future technical environments(s) in which they may be assigned to work, as determined by the employing agency. Preferred Skills -- 5+ years of experience working with IT Functional teams -- 2+ years of Vendor management -- 5+ years of Asset Management in a medium/large IT environment -- Willingness to learn and follow directions -- Strong working knowledge of Cisco Switches, Routers -- Understanding of network security principles and best practices -- Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLANs, VRFs) -- Cisco CCNA certification -- Experience with enterprise firewalls (Juniper, Palo Alto and Fortinet), Enterprise switches (Juniper, Cisco Meraki, etc.) -- Hands on experience with VPN technologies, SD WAN, and wireless networks -- Familiarity with cloud networking (Azure, AWS VPCs, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect) -- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills -- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment -- Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary -- Ability to handle, move, maneuver network and other supportive devices with assistance when necessary 55a Program This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
