The Regional Fabrication Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operational performance, strategic alignment, and financial success of their assigned regional fabrication operation. This role serves as the bridge between corporate leadership, support departments, and plant operations to ensure the fabrication facilities have the resources, communication, staffing, and operational alignment necessary to execute safely, efficiently, and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee assigned regional fabrication operations and support Plant Managers in achieving operational goals
- Ensure plant production schedules align with the corporate master fabrication schedule
- Monitor operational bottlenecks and coordinate corrective action plans
- Support workload balancing between facilities and sub-fabricators
- Participate in strategic production planning meetings
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as the primary operational liaison between fabrication operations and support departments
- Coordinate with:
- HR regarding staffing and workforce planning
- Purchasing regarding material status and procurement risks
- Data Control regarding drawing release priorities
- Detailing regarding production readiness
- Project Management regarding project schedules and client expectations
- Logistics regarding trucking and shipping coordination
KPI & Financial Management
- Monitor and report operational KPI performance
- Develop and maintain labor projections, productivity tracking, and operational forecasts
- Drive initiatives focused on reducing operational costs while improving throughput and quality
- Assist in developing annual budgets and capital expenditure plans
- Support monthly cost review meetings and operational reporting
Strategic Growth & Planning
- Assist in the development of long-term operational growth strategies
- Identify opportunities for automation, equipment upgrades, process improvements, and operational expansion
- Support startup or integration efforts for new facilities or sub-fabrication partners
Leadership & Culture
- Mentor Plant Managers and operational leadership teams
- Promote a culture focused on safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork
- Support employee retention and leadership development initiatives
Qualifications
- 10+ years of leadership experience in structural steel fabrication or industrial manufacturing
- Strong understanding of workflows, scheduling, and production planning
- Experience with KPI management, budgeting, and operational forecasting
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience managing multiple operations or facilities preferred
- Valid driver's license required
