Join the team as a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Commission and support daily operations at Presque Isle Downs Racetrack. This role invites you to be part of a fast-paced environment where your organizational skills make a real difference. You will help keep important processes moving while working with staff, applicants, and licensees. Step into a position that values accuracy, teamwork, and steady attention to detail.

This position supports the daily office functions of the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Commission (PHRC) at Presque Isle Downs. It focuses on clerical tasks that keep licensing, enforcement, and communication activities running smoothly. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Office Support: Manage copying, typing, file handling, and organization of electronic records
  • Customer Assistance: Help callers, applicants, and licensees by answering questions and guiding them to needed information
  • Licensing Work: Process fees, issue receipts, enter data, and verify identification documents
  • Financial Recording: Prepare daily cash reports, fine reports, and revenue transmittals
  • Mail Processing: Handle registered, certified, and insured outgoing mail following postal rules
  • Record Updates: Maintain rulings reports and assist with race line accuracy checks

  • Temporary Full-time employment.
  • Work schedule is vendor controlled and is determined by the racing schedule.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $18.46 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Preferred Requirements (not required) :
  • Experience processing various payment types i.e. credit/debit card transactions.
  • Familiarity with database management.
  • Experience handling sensitive personal information.
  • Experience working in a racetrack environment and familiarity with horse racing terminology and understanding of racetrack backside operations.
