Office of Indiana State Comptroller :
The State Comptrollers office has four main areas Accounts Payable, Accounting and Reporting, Local Government, and Payroll. Each of these departments plays a crucial role in the functionality of state government. From paying state employees to balancing the states checkbook to working with local units and developing year-end financial reports, these departments and the employees within them are dedicated to accurate and transparent accounting on behalf of Hoosiers across the state.
Role Overview :
SUMMARY:
Incumbent serves as a Supplier Administrator for the Office of State Comptroller, responsible for processing supplier forms, payment bounce backs and maintaining accurate Internal Revenue Service (IRS) withholding reporting for the state.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Verify, add, and update state supplier forms
Create and disperse Internal Revenue Service (IRS) B-Notices and 1099 reporting forms
Maintain accurate withholding reporting for state suppliers, including real estate transactions and settlements with multiple parties
Analyze and process state & federal levy interceptions
Serve as communication liaison with state agencies and supplier representatives
Provide agency guidance on supplier matters, including withholding guidance
Other Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Payment inquiry research
Filing, storing and retrieving accounts payable, payroll and settlement records
Mail processing
Perform related duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK
High school diploma or equivalent required plus one year of related professional experience required
Accreditation in 1099 reporting preferred Must receive the Institute of Finance & Management Payment Reporting (1099) Specialist Certification required within first year of employment
Exceptional customer service to internal and external customers required
Strong written and verbal communication skills needed
Ability to analyze documents and scenarios and make appropriate decisions based upon policy, procedure, written and verbal guidelines
Light lifting required up to 40 pounds
Familiarity with the following systems is preferred but not required:
PeopleSoft Financials (Suppliers)
PeopleSoft Financials (Accounts Payable)
PeopleSoft Financials (eProcurement)
Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
Salary Statement :
The salary for this position traditionally starts at 50,000.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
