Summary

Public Health- Seattle & King County is seeking (2) Two Dental Clinic Patient Services Representative (Administrative Specialist II). One will be located at Downtown Public Health and the other at Renton Public Health, to join our vibrant multi-disciplinary, and diverse dental team to support the delivery of health services to the county's most vulnerable people. Our clients are culturally, socially, and linguistically diverse. Applicants should be committed to working with diverse populations to provide excellent customer service to people from a broad range of cultures, communities, backgrounds, and experiences, including people experiencing homelessness and/or mental illness. This position supports and advances the Community Health Services Division (CHS) values for fair and culturally competent service delivery, innovative, effective, and efficient application of resources, building a culture of performance, expanding opportunities to seek input, and listen and respond to clients.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Job Duties

  • Greet patients, both in person on the phone, and electronically complete registration and check-in.
  • Schedule patient visits with appropriate providers and programs.
  • Data collection and data entry including client referrals Solicit financial and insurance information, verify insurance coverage, calculate charges, and collect payments when appropriate.
  • Identify when patient needs triage by healthcare staff and quickly identify potential emergencies.
  • Coordinate patient and information flow, while maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with Federal HIPAA laws.
  • Utilize a variety of computer programs, including Epic (Wisdom), Provider One, and Microsoft Office. Utilize interpreters as appropriate.
  • Verify that encounters and paperwork are correct to ensure accuracy and billing.
  • Perform general office duties such as copying, and faxing. Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Ideal Candidate:

  • Skilled at interacting with respect with people of all backgrounds, including individuals with limited English or living homeless.
  • Skilled at handling confidential data and sensitive situations with tact and discretion.
  • Detail-oriented. Skilled at organizing, prioritizing, problem solving.
  • Skilled at communicating and explaining information in a clear, professional and simple manner.
  • Open to feedback and making positive changes.
  • Able to learn and use multiple computer programs.
  • Experience with Electronic Practice Management systems that include health records, patient scheduling, and financial transactions.
  • Able to work successfully both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Reliable in attendance and punctuality.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Experienced working in a healthcare or social service delivery environment, providing a high level of customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment for at least one year, or equivalent education/training in this kind of work.
  • Understanding of inclusive engagement as well as equity and social justice principles-Experience incorporating these principles into daily work and collaborating with a team to drive program toward racial and social equity goals.

Desired Candidate:

  • Basic knowledge of public health and dental and medical practices terminology
  • Experience working in a healthcare or social service delivery environment, providing a high level of customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment for at least one (1) year OR equivalent education/training in this kind of work.
  • Experience with Epic Community health experience, education, or training.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Trauma Informed Care principles
