Our Float Front Office Assistants provide coverage and support across multiple practices within our Atlanta network. Floating between physician practices is required.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Serves as initial patient contact, initiates patient record and account. Greets patients and

families in a welcoming and caring manner, courteously assists callers with information

and directions.

  1. Answers phones (operator, appointment, back office lines, etc.) in compliance with

service goals.

  1. Accurately schedules all categories of appointments - new, return/office, follow-up, preop, post-op, procedure, consultation, etc.

  2. Prepares patient records and prints schedule in preparation for daily appointments. Makes

adjustments to schedule as needed throughout the day (add-ons, cancellations,

rescheduled appointments) and retains records if applicable.

  1. Responsible for patient registration. Interviews, verifies and performs accurate data entry

of patient demographics, insurance and medical information to ensure integrity of records

and minimize claims denial if applicable. May be responsible for basic insurance

verification processes.

  1. Educates patients and maintains compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations and

acknowledgements if applicable.

  1. Accepts upfront payments (co-pays, co-insurance, etc.) and provides appropriate patient

receipts. Ensures proper documentation is provided. Balances all daily charges and

receipts. Prints reports for daily updates and close of day.

  1. Performs test order entry and/or facilitating scheduling of tests on behalf of patients.

Enters information accurately into logs as applicable.

  1. Escorts patients to exam area as needed and provides directions if applicable. Monitors

patient wait times ensuring patients are seen within 15 minutes of appointment and

communicate delays, status of procedure, etc.

  1. Facilitates gathering information for insurance/billing questions as requested by patients.

  2. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies

and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment

malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Practice

Coordinator.

  1. May be responsible for daily entry of office visit and diagnostic charges and accurate

charge capture

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. 1 year clerical/secretarial experience preferably in a healthcare environment.

  2. Excellent communication skills.

  3. Ability to follow detailed instructions.

  4. Successful completion of course in Medical Terminology or commensurate experience

  5. Proficient in the use and application of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Previous experience in a Physician Practice setting
