The Payroll& Fare Clerk assists the Accounting Manager in all aspects of the daily payroll function. This position is responsible for the completion of new employee profiles, payroll, fare collection reconciliation, and other clerical accounting functions. The Payroll Clerk must maintain an excellent attendance and punctuality record and must be accurate and reliable. The Payroll Clerk must use excellent customer service skills when dealing with fellow employees. Must have the ability to perform with high degree of accuracy and confidentiality working with payroll records, paid leave tracking of all employees, oversee employee pay rate change request based on union contracts, and other recurring reports.

DUTIES:

  1. Enters time from timecards into payroll system, transmits payroll, verifies paychecks, monitors overtime, ensures payroll procedures are always followed.

  2. Provide support by responding to questions and concerns regarding payroll, personnel records, and employee profiles, to include answering telephone and company email correspondence.

  3. Answer the phone/email and respond to employee inquiries.

  4. Ensures all entries of operational statistics are properly entered for and prepares monthly management report for client. Generates daily, weekly, and monthly location specific reports as requested. Submit daily dashboard information.

  5. Exhibits excellent customer service with both internal and external customers.

  6. Prepares and submits all hourly employee HRIS profile and EAF employee change forms, to include new hire, hourly rate changes, and terminations.

  7. Performs daily input and reconciliation of hourly employee vacation and sick leave accrual and usage.

  8. Collection of Cash Fares and Fare Media (Vault) on the Vehicle during service.

  9. Retrieval, Counting and Recording of Fare Receipts and Cash

  10. Full Cycle Counting Fares

  11. Special administrative projects and additional duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of professional experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with employees of all levels.
  • Problem solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to input data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy, to make difficult mathematical computations with and without mechanical assistance (ability to operate a calculator by touch).

  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and technical or legal terminology.
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
