Clerical Paraprofessional for Student Support Services
Location: Central Office
Salary: Per contract
Job Goal: To provide clerical support to the administrator; communicating information to students, parents, staff, and/or other districts; ensuring compliance with financial, legal and administrative requirements; and supporting the broad array of services provided to students, parents, instructional and support employees.
Supervision: Reports to the Director of Student Support Services
Education, Work Experience, and Licensure:
Required: High School Diploma or its equivalent (i.e., G.E.D.).
Preferred: At least two years of prior work experience. Experience working with Special Education
Performance Responsibilities:
Responsible for processing, filing, distributing, and mailing Individualized Education Program (IEP) documents to parents or guardians and recording responses within federal, state and local timelines. Ensure that all documentation regarding the IEP process has been received
Communicates with school office staff to update and maintain school administrative and student records/files including, but not limited to demographics, state reporting information, special education information, attendance, etc.
Schedules IEP meetings in collaboration with special education coordinators, administration
Coordinate translation of documents
Generates and prepares information for reports and letters and documents in the Student Information System and other tools including, but not limited to demographics, state reporting information, special education information, attendance, etc.
Acts as the receptionist for the Student Support Services Office as required
Maintains a safe, orderly and professional office space
Communicates with parents, guardians, service agencies as directed by the administrator
Operate standard office machines and equipment related to clerical and typing assignments including computer, printer, calculator, copier, and postage and fax machines.
Any other related duties as assigned by the administrator
Special Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Database systems [ie:PowerSchool], District e-mail); knowledge of high level of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; knowledge of strong interpersonal skills, including tact, patience, courtesy, and confidentiality; working knowledge of the District and location of schools and staff members.
Physical Requirements: The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 40 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.
Environmental Conditions: The applicant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents are toners and cleaning fluids.
