Portable Aggregate Operations Manager

This position is responsible for organizing, developing, and overseeing portable aggregate operations across the Utah/Arizona region. The Operations Manager ensures safe, efficient, and profitable production while leading teams, optimizing performance, and maintaining high operational and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all portable aggregate operations within the assigned region.
  • Coordinate daily production activities and ensure achievement of production goals.
  • Monitor production yields, product gradation, and overall operational performance.
  • Manage production reporting, including Viewpoint system entries.
  • Utilize forecasting tools (DF3) to support operational planning and reporting.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture for all personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company safety policies.
  • Maintain safe and environmentally responsible job site operations.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead recruitment, hiring, training, coaching, and retention of staff.
  • Supervise employees by assigning work, setting schedules, and evaluating performance.
  • Support Plant Superintendents, Supervisors, and Foremen with daily operations.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Review financial and operational reports to monitor productivity and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and manage budgets to meet or exceed performance targets.
  • Support and maintain internal reporting processes (including Oldcastle reporting).
  • Lead and sustain performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintenance & Equipment

  • Oversee plant equipment maintenance programs and ensure best practices are followed.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency.

Project & Program Management

  • Manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects and other special initiatives.
  • Serve as PEAK production administrator.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts and implement best practices across operations.

Customer & Business Development

  • Strengthen customer relationships and improve product sales performance.
  • Ensure the company remains a preferred supplier and industry leader in the region.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to achieve broader business objectives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Travel to remote job sites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise team members in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include hiring, training, performance management, scheduling, and disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Address employee concerns and resolve operational issues effectively.
Qualifications

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 35 years of related experience in aggregate operations or a similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in operations, sales, quality control, customer service/dispatch, and supervision preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of crushing and screening operations.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and write clear instructions, reports, and correspondence.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills for individual and small group settings.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including working with measurements, fractions, and decimals.
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Work Environment & Requirements

  • Frequent travel to field locations and remote job sites.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, including varying weather and job site environments.
