Refugee Resettlement assists in helping create a home-away-from-home, we assist government-approved refugees in becoming self-sufficient through cultural orientation, job development, family reunification and resettlement.

The Receptionist has an important responsibility within the Refugee Resettlement Program, the job of a receptionist is the first-person clients and visitors meet when entering the office. The Receptionist will greet visitors, coordinate front-desk activities, distribute correspondence and answer/redirect phone calls. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and have the capability to multi-task. The Refugee Resettlement Department assists refugees in Houston to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to reach self-sufficiency and live with dignity. What you Deliver

  • Greeting clients and visitors directing them accurately to staff members.
  • Assessing calls and transferring calls to appropriate program or staff members.
  • Requires contact with staff, clients, volunteers and public by telephone or in-person.
  • Perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing, and faxing.
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy and presentable, stocked with all necessary material.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute daily mail/deliveries.
  • Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications

The Expertise We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • One (1) year of work experience

  • Exhibit friendliness and courtesy when interacting with visitors.
  • Demonstrate success in dealing with a variety of people.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
