The Receptionist for the Office of Admission serves as the first and most important point of contact for prospective students, families, campus visitors, and university stakeholders. This position requires a warm, professional presence, excellent communication abilities, and strong organizational skills. The ideal candidate will deliver an exceptional first impression while efficiently supporting the administrative and event-related operations of the Admissions Office.
Examples of Duties- Greeting all guests in a courteous, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Answer incoming calls with clarity and professionalism; respond to general inquiries and route calls appropriately to Admissions Counselors, Processors, Assistant Directors, or the Dean.
- Maintain a helpful, positive demeanor in all in-person and phone interactions.
- Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist in the planning, preparation, and execution of high-impact recruitment events.
- Demonstrate strong punctuality, reliability, and attention to detail in all duties.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all visitors, students, parents, and staff.
- Remain composed and courteous under pressure, especially during periods of high call volume or foot traffic.
- Ensure a professional tone and polished appearance are always maintained.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in a receptionist or customer service role.
- Professional, approachable appearance and demeanor.
- Familiarity with college admissions processes or higher education environments is a plus.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and DocuSign for routine clerical and document management tasks.
- Navigate office systems, email platforms, and digital tools with proficiency.
