Church Receptionist Location: Nashville
Hours: Flexible 35 hours/week
Pay: $18-$19/hr Basic Function: To warmly greet and assist visitors and members, manage incoming communications, and support the administrative needs of the church office. This role is essential in maintaining a welcoming and organized environment for the congregation and staff. Specific Responsibilities and Objectives: Office Responsibilities:
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the church calendar, class locations, and upcoming events.
  • Assist in editing and preparing newsletters and other printed or digital communications.
  • Support Bible study and Sunday School classes with materials and logistics.
  • Monitor and manage the main church email inbox, forwarding messages to appropriate staff.
  • Help prepare and distribute quarterly contribution and year-end giving statements.
  • Provide backup support for entering the Daily Cash Report for the Accounting team.
  • Compile and mail memorial letters to donors and families of the deceased.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned
Reception & Administrative Support:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for members and visitors, offering a professional and welcoming presence.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls; manage messages and voicemail systems.
  • Maintain and update records for Wednesday evening dinners and other recurring events.
  • Make calendar updates and communicate changes to sextons and relevant staff.
  • Sort and meter mail; print and distribute materials as needed.
  • Assign and track fobs/keys for church and school staff.
  • Assist the Business Office Assistant with phone system support, including voicemail setup and troubleshooting.
  • Support communication efforts during inclement weather, including notifying TV stations and updating phone messages.
Education and Skill Requirements:
  • Associates degree preferred or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Professional demeanor and a heart for serving in a faith-based environment.
