The Winemaking Operations Associate position assists with record keeping and logistical support for Winemaking, Cellar, and Laboratory operations. This position is responsible for Winemaking Order entry, issuing and tracking purchase orders, supplies receiving, and other logistical planning and projects under the Winemaking Operations Manager’s scope of responsibilities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Generate non-blending WMO’s (Winemaking Orders) for the Cellar Team.
- Review and verify WMO completion prior to posting in winery database.
- Perform other bulk wine and materials transactions in winery database, ensuring receiving and internal processes are followed and all documentation is accounted for correctly in compliance with TTB standards and regulations.
- Generate, track, and post purchase orders for winemaking materials and supplies.
- Assist in strategic planning of all inbound tankers, concentrates, sugars, and other Winemaking materials.
- Assist in strategic planning of bulk wine and tank capacity within NexTerra’s Woodridge, IL facility in conjunction with Cellar and Winemaking.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly Federal Operations Report (702) for Winemaker signoff.
- Assist with winemaking materials inventories establishing minimum quantities to initiate reordering.
- Assist with department office management, including ordering office materials & supplies.
- Projects in data management, materials and supply tracking, and logistical systems as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, high level Excel ability is required.
- Experience with data entry in inventory, purchasing and accounting systems.
- Proven analytical experience and applied mathematical skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to work with confidential information on a regular basis.
- Able to interact effectively within Winemaking, Production, Supply Chain and Accounting, and associated departments as well as with outside vendors/agencies.
- Ability to multi-task and follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
- Wine Industry or other beverage alcohol experience helpful.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervisory experience, preferred.
- Acts as backup to Winemaking Operations Manager when they are out
Physical Job Functions:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
- Must be able to work in fluctuating temperatures.
