Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis. Sharing the campus is Gurwin's Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences), our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies. We are currently seeking a per diem Receptionist to work in our main lobby. The scheduled work hours are Saturday 5:00PM-9:30PM with the ability to work additional hours as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: + High School diploma or equivalent education. Previous receptionist experience preferred. + Excellent communication and organizational skills. REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE: + Operate the switchboard for the Center in order to provide routine information and direct calls to appropriate areas and personnel in accordance with policy and procedure. + Monitor fire alarms and respond in accordance with policy and procedure. + Monitor Roam Alert alarms and respond in accordance with policy and procedure. + Demonstrate excellent customer service skills. + Ability to handle occasional pressure due to multiple calls, inquires, locating personnel, etc. + Forward medical reports, Express Mail, mail, etc., to the appropriate personnel and/or resident. + Utilize the public address system and beepers in accordance with established procedures. + Respond to emergency calls following established protocol. + Communicate effectively during routine and emergency situations. + Provide assistance and guidance to visitors, directing them to various locations. + Record all out-going calls, local and long distance, according to procedure. + Effectively communicate with all personnel and visitors. + Ensure that the lobby is maintained in an orderly and clean manner. + Perform duties in a safe manner. + Demonstrate an attitude of cooperation and professionalism when dealing with peers and supervisors. + Assist in the transportation of residents, as appropriate. + Adhere to all aspects of Customer Service, some examples include the following: Working together, showing empathy, courteous communication and respect for others. + Perform other related duties as required.
